SKI TOURING IN TATRA MOUNTAINS
Are you a ski lover that dreams of trying something new? Off-piste calls you? You’ve heard about ski touring but you don’t know how to start it? Would you like to discover Tatras on skis and need a professional guiding support? its difficulty.
Ski touring is one of ski activities done off-piste or outside ski-resorts. It contains elements of winter mountain hiking but instead of crampons one wears skies (with skins while up hilling) and rides downhill in a wild, unprepared terrain. It’s a brilliant way of spending a day without crowds typical for mountain resorts. The difference is immense – ski touring allows you to walk comfortably all day or longer in an untouched winter scenery.
Ski touring is also an interesting way of combining mountain hiking and skiing. Those who got bored with doing a lift up and ski down routine may get their challenge! Conquering a mountain or a pass on one’s own – delivers an overwhelming sense of satisfaction. For mountain hikers – getting down the mountain on skies and shortening come-back time is something that makes a day!
If you are advanced on skis or tried some of ski touring already, I am ready to introduce you to the world of ski alpinism. It’s a variation of ski touring on a more steep terrain that demands using crampons and ice-axes. Where are your skis in this time? On your back ready to get you down the couloir!
Obviously, ski touring is connected with objective risks. Avalanches, crevasses, rocks hidden under snow as a terrain is untouched – it all may appear during a ski touring day. I shall accompany you as a guide to minimise the risks and get the maximum of your potential.
